I want to thank all of the friends and supporters of Robert Nix 4 Senate.

I am proud of our campaign, how hard we worked, the message we brought, and of finally giving the people of the third state senatorial district a viable choice they haven’t had in so long. Our Democracy depends on having viable choices.

In the end, I didn’t even really lose to my opponent as much as I lost to the Barack Obama movement and the straight Democrat button/lever.

We might not have been victorious in this instance, but we succeeded — we ran a strong and credible campaign on issues that are important to the district - a district with the highest crime rate, incarceration rate, high-school drop rate and unemployment rate in the entire state — we also cracked the door open further for Hispanics to run for, and win, elected office in Pennsylvania, for Republicans to run viable races in urban Democratic strongholds, and we helped preserve a two-party system by offering choices in an area where people are accustomed to being taken for granted by a de facto one-party system.

Personally, I wanted to set an example for my own children of what public service and democracy is all about- and I think I did that.
